Teeth Dreams

Four panels. Panel 1 - mouth open wide, teeth are falling out, pushing themselves out of the socket, one is running away yelling “I’m Free”. Panel 2 - tooth is basking in the sun with sunglasses and two suitcases in front of the Eiffel Tower. It says, “I can finally travel!”. Panel 3 - man sits up in bed grabbing his teeth. “Oh, thank God it’s a dream!” he says. The bedside clock says 2:30. Panel 4 - close up on a tooth back inside the mouth with an angry expression. “Just wait, Mr. Ice-Chewing Jerk. You’ll be in dentures when you least expect it!

This is one of the oldest comic ideas I have; I started this before Barrel Scrapings even existed. Here is the original sketch:

Same basic idea as before but much sketchier

I’m pretty sure dreams of losing your teeth are a fairly common occurrence but it never ceases to freak me out when it happens. I thought it might be fun to imagine why those teeth were in such a rush to exit someone’s head. Hopefully it’s not too disturbing.

Unfortunately, I made the mistake of resizing the original sketch canvas (very high resolution, very wide aspect ration) to lower resolution square. That screwed up the video recording and the resulting time lapse is much lower resolution than it normally would be. Ah well, if you’re interested here is a short version:
