Easter Rocks

Please see the full size image; it loses a lot of detail when resized and converted to jpeg. I’ve had this idea kicking around for awhile (first with a trap-door spider, then with Jesus). I had the idea to do it in the style of a stained glass Stations of the Cross, with an intentionally flat style. I found there was a stained glass set of brushes for Procreate and set off to do it.

Failed Animal Inventions

This one was fun (though very time consuming). The initial idea was Snake crate (bad business ideas). Then came glass cage for birds. Spitballed a few other examples. A Stroke of Genius

Turns out smelling burnt toast as precursor to a stroke is a myth. But I didn’t know that when I conceived of this one.

Stop the Steal

Dumb little comic inspired by the somewhat ungrammatical “Stop the steal” protests. Update: My favorite thing about this is that YouTube put up a little “this may be misleading” warning. Robots don’t understand irony.

The Parabola of the Loaves and Fishes

Dumb little pun based on the Parable of the Loaves and Fishes aka “Feeding the multitude”, the purported miracle in which Jesus fed thousands of people with some small number of loaves of bread and fish.

Early Retirement

This was inspired by two of my siblings as yet another pun comic. For this to make much sense at all you need to know that FIRE = Financial Independence Retire Early. I had a very hard time with the actual art this time - I know there’s no chair behind the woman but no matter what I tried it looked wrong. So use your imagination. I think I’ve gotten rusty from taking time off.

Truth in Advertising

Many of these are based on real world tactics and advertisements. Photo / ad references: Time limited sale - https://optinmonster.com/fomo-marketing-examples-to-boost-sales/ Fear of missing out - https://optinmonster.com/fomo-marketing-examples-to-boost-sales/ Fake dress purchase - https://webtransparency.cs.princeton.edu/dark-patterns/ The gross thing is a lot of these are being peddled as best practice. Time lapse: Update 2023-05-14: Udemy is subject to a class action lawsuit due to advertising fake sales with time pressure to get you to buy.
